Kisa et Anke Sauer

(Germany)

Independent sculptor, Kirsten Sauer carries out designs in 3 dimensions. She employs various materials which aim at making her designs alive.

The techniques or the materials used by the creators of kite in general are advantageous for her.

Her inspiration comes from the various meetings with other artists and designers, also of her work in the sphere of the Theatre in which she evolves. Member of the Drachensyndikat, she takes an active part in many projects more amazing the ones than the others. (Projects "flugrost", "skywalkers", ect...).

Anke Sauer, the sister of Kisa, is member of the DrachenSyndikat too, she works works mainly Tyvec which allows her a free creation.

Her meetings with Robert Trepanier (Canada) and Anna Rubin (Austria) were determining.

Anke carries out the sketches of some of her kites starting from a 3d program. She conceives a base form first of all and realizes some an approximate arrangement in order to obtain an object in 3 dimensions from it.

So, she can visualize the object in all its forms, to determine the points of light which will give her the shade and the depth of the object to be reproduced in the form of transfer. The design is then applied on Tyvek (acrylic painting with the brush).

Her kites are not transparent,so the structures and design seem very heavy, this to create a certain darkness which contrasts in a frank way with the sky.
