For the first time in Dieppe a delegation of 14 Balinese represented this country. They presented traditional kites but also animated the festival during all the week through spectacles and traditional dances. Several dances were thus presented at the sound of the gamelans (orchestra of typical bamboos of Bali ) :

Kecak : a night mystical dance with the attractive tonalities. Decorated by a chorus of men sitting in circle, a dancer in the medium. This dance draws its origins in the dances with fright; Legong : An old very gracious dance reserved to the king of Bali ; Joged : A dance of flirt very amusing and rascal.

The 1st Workshop of Creation

Throughout all festival 2002, a "Space of Creation" was entrusted to the creative kitefliers which make their workshop of it. Under the glance of the public theyl created new kites on the theme of the festival, explained to the interested public their artistic step. These creations were presented at the time of various trial flights, public being invited to follow the various stages of realization.

Dieppe - Acadie

An official delegation representing of the town of Dieppe in Acadie ( New Brunswick - Canada ) was present at the time of the edition of the international Dieppe kite festival in September 2000. Filled with wonder by the spectacle, moved by the contacts with the delegations and the public, the acadian representatives wanted immediately to create a similar event their town (Dieppe Canada), persuaded that such a demonstration could promote their area abroad and that an original event, high colors, of international size, would encourage the exchanges between the countries of the francophonie.

A cooperation agreement was signed in 2001 with the town of Dieppe France so that the Dieppe Kite Festival takes place every year. The 1st Canadian edition was held in August 2001 and gained a frank success.

With the occasion of the festival 2002, with an aim of reinforcing the friendship and confirming twinning between the two towns of Dieppe, Acadie was also invited of honor. An acadian team presented during these 10 days Acadie and all the nuances of their culture. A special stand "Acadie" was established on the village. Conferences were taken place to with it each day.

What is the "artistic Routine" ?

On the principle of a tale select by an artistic coordinator and the personnel of the Media library of Dieppe, it is a ballet of piloting kites with the presence of static kites. The advance is carried out using musical sequences symbolizing the history or the selected poem. The role of the coordinator is to guide the kitefliers in the work of installation of the sequences and to ensure their good unfolding. Composed of kitefliers qualified on the matter, The team evolved under the coordination of Francoise Mainguet, professor and choreographer at the national school of music and dance of the area of Dieppe. This routine was worked throughout the week on the grounds of the festival. The public was invited to attend the repetitions. The "Artistic Routine" final was presented saturdays and Sunday of the last weekend.

Le Mountain board

Mountain board (skate tractor drawn by kite) is the machine of slips "to wrinkle" all the year. Adapted to all the grounds : ground, bituminize, bleaches on grass, beach, forests and all the styles of slip : free-wrinkle, freestyle, free-carve, kiteboarding. Adequate protections are essential to practise this kind of discipline : helmets, knuckle, gloves. The mountain board quickly takes speed and the falls can beings dangerous. This is why before initiating itself with this type of sport, it is necessary, even essential, to learn the techniques and the requirements from them safety with professional truths. In Dieppe, in 2002, the kite club of Dieppe presented demonstrations of this discipline.

The "Young" activities and disabled public

With the wire of the editions, the international Dieppe kite festival wanted to be accessible to all. For that we encouraged the structures specialized in load of the public handicapped to take part in the activities of the festival. Certain groups became thus "accustomed" of the demonstration. In 1998, the group "Vire-Vole" (ADAPEI) of Vannes took part and gained a price with the contest of creation.

The organizers took care in 2002 so that all the kite activities, and all spaces on the village are equipped with access to the handicapped people. In 2002, A .P.E.I of Dieppe took share to the festival with forty adults in situation of handicap. Together and with the assistance of the team of "Dieppe Capital of thekite", they took part in the creation of a large fresco on fabric of spi.
